“If you want to escape the burdens that oppress you, you should not be somewhere else, but someone else.” – Seneca
We can change our external circumstances all we want. We can wear new clothes, get a new phone or a new car, get a different job, move to a different house, a different town, a different country. However, no matter what we do, we will never be free from what truly troubles us: ourselves. No matter how we dress up our circumstances we will still be the same people. We’ll still be chasing things that we hope will make us happy and never quite getting there. There will always be an object of our desire that we can’t quite reach. No matter what new thing we get or the new place we go to, we will always be just us. We can always have everything we want if we learn to want all that life gives us.
