“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.” ― Marcus Aurelius
In a time like this, we need to remember what is beautiful. The pandemic has limited extravagance, which should serve as a potent reminder to root our gratitude in the simplest things. We cannot even take our health for granted. Therefore, we should appreciate each moment, no matter how simple. We should savor a moment of getting to look a loved one in the eyes, seeing a beautiful landscape, not trying to hold on to something, but merely appreciating things for what they are. Seneca emplored us to live each day as a separate lifetime. Marcus Aurelius encouraged us to live in the moment. We can’t hold on to a single moment, it will pass away as quickly as it came. But we can recognize the beauty that exists and be grateful for something at all times. Live in gratitude. Appreciate beauty, even in its impermanence.
