Here are your options

“People are not disturbed by things, but by the views they take of them.” -Epictetus

Frustration is always an option, so is tranquility. Anger is always an option, so is calm. Perturbation is always an option, so is equanimity. We are free to choose to be upset by anything. We could choose to perceive an act of kindness and an act of pity. However, we could just as easily perceive a blunt comment as useful feedback. Given that we can always interpret events one way or the other, what is more useful? Interpreting everything as a problem, or as a gift? Which will lead to a happier life and a stronger character? I think we both know the answer.
